Welcome

Welcome to Battyeford CE (C) Primary School.

Welcome to Battyeford CE (C) Primary School. I am so proud to lead such an exciting and vibrant learning community. Our school offers a broad and challenging education for children in a secure, caring and stimulating environment.

We are fortunate to be situated on a large site with separate playgrounds for each age phase and an expansive sports field, outdoor classroom and school garden. Our school building is divided into defined zones for each phase which helps to develop a close and caring environment for children and families. We cater for children from Nursery through to Year Six.

We benefit from a specialist art room, a large performing arts and music space, two halls, and a school garden with large poly-tunnel and 2 quad areas. Battyeford is renowned for its commitment to the broadest 'Arts' education. We employ two specialist teachers in Visual and Performing arts who ensure that our pupils receive many extra-curricular opportunities in these areas. The teaching of these arts subjects follow the Year group themes helping to embed oracy, heritage, world culture and critical thinking into our children's education. We have recently developed our library and ICT areas into a state of the art, 21st century learning zone. Although we have a multi-level site, there is wheel-chair access throughout.

Battyeford is both a happy place to be and a place of achievement. We hold the following awards: Healthy Schools, Activemark, Investors in People, Basic Skills Quality Mark and Artsmark Gold. We are proud of all our pupils, and of all the staff who work hard to ensure we provide a high quality education in a high quality environment. We firmly believe that school should be fun as well as challenging, and we aim to give children rich and varied learning experiences to allow them to develop to their fullest potential.

We have a very strong commitment to inclusion with provision of opportunities for every child to be able to achieve their potential both academically and in other areas. Although we have strong links with Christ the King CE Church, we welcome all children into our school family from any, or no, faith backgrounds.

Children in our school follow the Learning Challenge Curriculum. We aim to provide the “wow” factor in our learning by inviting exciting visitors to school and by organising high quality educational visits. There are opportunities for residential trips in Year Five and Year Six. Provision is enhanced through a variety of after school clubs.

We are proud of the close partnership we have between parents, careers, staff, pupils and governors and we hope that this web site will be a useful way for you to keep in touch. Sound channels of communication are essential to providing the best learning experience for your child and our website and blogs will help to ensure that.
