"REACH for the stars and beyond. Together, with God's love, we can dream, believe and achieve."

Welcome to our school's website

“Pupils thrive at Battyeford Primary School. They are happy and safe. There is a strong sense of community. Staff have high expectations of pupils’ attitudes and behaviour”.  These are the words taken from our most recent Ofsted inspection, and they perfectly encapsulate the ethos and values we promote here in school.  At Battyeford, we understand that education is a journey, not a destination, and our focus is on providing a learning environment which supports our children through every stage of their personal journeys.  We understand that every child is different, has different needs and aspirations, and our child-centric approach ensures that children achieve and become the very best versions of themselves.

Our philosophy is underpinned by our school REACH vision.  This vision defines the gifts we seek to enrich our children with every day:

  • Responsible
  • Empathetic
  • Aspirational
  • Confident
  • Happy

And our vision statement “Reach for the stars and beyond.  Together with God’s love, we can dream, believe and achieve” seeks to re-enforce these values and our strong links to the Church.   Diversity and inclusion are at the heart of everything we do, providing opportunities for all children to access learning and develop academically, socially and emotionally.  We are proud of all our children, and of the reputation we have as a wonderful learning environment within our community.

I would like to thank you for taking the time to visit our website, and I encourage everyone to explore the site to gain valuable insight into our world and see the rich tapestry of activities and experiences that make up Battyeford Primary School.

Rachel Batty, Headteacher

HTAFC Poetry Competition - closing date this Wednesday!
Good morning Just a reminder that all entries for the poetry competition (original message below) need to be in the office by this Wednesday, 10th April. Many thanks Dear parent/carer As part of this year's Huddersfield Literature Festival (17th- 26th April) HTAFC is sponsoring the Festival Tipi which will be located in the Courtyard of the Lawrence Batley Theatre. Schools are invited to take part in a poetry competition run by the club and the festival. The idea is that pupils write a poem about Huddersfield Town; it can be a long/short poem or a limerick or what-ever the children would like to do. Further details, including facts about HTAFC to perhaps include in the poems, can be found attached. The closing date for entries is 10th April if children want to hand them in at the office. The judges are Leigh Nicholls (their number 1 goalkeeper), Jonathan Hogg (captain), Sorba Thomas (young supporters' favourite player) and Michael Helik (top goal-scorer) who will judge all the entries and pick the top 5 poems. There will be prizes for the 4 runners-up and a special Huddersfield Town prize for the overall winner. All the entries from every school will be on view in the Tipi during the literature festival. Good luck!

    Social Media Rumours
Dear parent/carer, We are aware of rumours circulating on social media about high schools, in particular, being targeted by a gang, which is creating unwanted panic amongst the community of West Yorkshire. We understand any such information is of significant concern however, we would like to reassure you that as a school we haven’t received any notification or information from the Local Authority of any potential risk to our school.
