Online applications for school places for September 2023 opened on the 1 September 2022. 

The following admissions rounds require online applications:

Secondary School

If your child is moving from a Primary School (year 6) to a to a High School (year 7) in September 2023, you must apply online for a school before the 31 October 2022.

Primary School

If you have a child starting school for the first time in Reception, you must apply online for a school place before the 15 January 2023. This also applies to children moving from an Infant School (year 2) to a Junior School (year 3) and children moving from a First School (year 5) to a Middle School (year 6).

We strongly advise you to name three preference schools on your application, including your catchment school. 

If you apply late, your application will NOT be considered until all on time applications have been allocated school places.  Applying late can severely reduce your chances of getting a school place at one of your preferred schools. 

To apply online, you will need access to the following: 

• A smart phone, tablet or computer 
• The internet 
• An email address 

What do you need to do? 

• Go to www.kirklees.gov.uk/admissions 
• Read the relevant Admissions Guide for Parents 
• Click on ‘Apply online’.  You will be taken to the Kirklees Parent Portal 
• If this is your first visit, click on ‘create an account’.
• Enter your details and follow the link to verify your account 
• Login to add your child’s details and preferred schools 

• Check and submit your application

What happens next? 

Offers of a school place are sent by email on National Offer Day to the email address you have used. You will also be able to see your offer of a school place by logging into your Kirklees Parent Portal account.
