REACH for the stars and beyond. Together, with God's love, we can dream, believe and achieve

Welcome to Battyeford CE (VC) Primary

"Do everything without grumbling or arguing... then you shine among them like stars in the sky!' (Philippians 2: 14-15).

Courageous Advocacy

'Love Your Neighbour As Yourself’ Mark 12: 29-31

It is important for our children to appreciate their role as part of a community; to take responsibility, to be able to look after themselves and to foster an understanding of their importance, impact and influence in the world.

At Battyeford we encourage our pupils to be courageous advocates; locally, nationally and globally. Pupils recognise that life has its ups and downs and people will have challenges to overcome and will need supporting at some point in their lives. As such they champion causes close to their hearts and the heart of their communities.  We believe this creates Responsible, Empathetic, Aspirational, Confident and Happy children who can work towards making the world a better place.

Over the past years we have supported many good causes including:

  • Children in Need
  • The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal
  • RainBeau day
  • Comic Relief
  • Sports Relief
  • Macmillan coffee morning
  • Odd sock day (as part of anti-bullying week)
  • Salvation Army (Mirfield) food bank
  • Uniform Exchange
  • Rotary shoebox appeal
  • Zach (walking laps of the garden for the Epilepsy Society)
  • Maisie (walking 26 miles over 10 days in her garden for LimbPower)

Our children have an excellent grasp on the meaning of belonging to a local and global community and the sense of responsibility that comes with belonging. Thereby developing their ability to empathise and make a small sacrifice to benefit others. Together we consider the beauty and fragility of our environment, the actions we take, and the impact these actions may have on the well-being of everyone. Our school community and curriculum actively embraces a responsibility for the world in which we live. We are diligent to show our connection with, and care for, the world in which we all live and care for the people who live in it:

  • Links with Hopton care home (singing, playing games and reading)
  • Charities of significance to our children (RainBeau Day)
  • REACH ambassadors
  • Developing links with our partner school in Tanzania
  • Fundraising events such as Christmas Fayres, Summer Fayres and discos
  • Magic nights and Tea with Santa
  • Harvest festivals and Christmas celebrations at Christ the King
  • School advertises and supports local events
